Neigong, as a term, in the beginning refers to methods of Taoist Breath Training, and Training which transforms the Bone and Tendon Networks of the practitioner – laying the Foundation for the Development of Inner Energy and Internal Power Development. Generally the Training will be taught and develop following ‘Three Levels’ :

1. Bright Level – development of Shape, Structural Alignment, and Connecting the Tendon / Bone / Muscles into a unified and harmonious state.
2. Hidden Level – Unification of the Mind and Breath within the Form and Shape — Working with Strength Development of Specific Organs — Working on Developing Qi Energy and bringing the Qi Energy through a State of Density Change.
3. Mysterious Level – This is a Stage which can naturally arise after long term, and correct practice. One will enter into a state of harmony and unification of mind / body / and breath — and at the highest level one may experience a harmony and union with nature and the universe.

In the first stages of Neigong Training, the exercises are often very simple, repetitive movements, with a focus to Unify the Movement and the Breath together, in a state of Harmony. At a Higher Stage, Neigong Training includes methods of specific Meditation Practice dealing with Concentration and also Dissolving into an Empty or No-Mind State.

We especially find Neigong Practice in modern times within the Taoist Internal Martial Arts. Nei – means the Inside, Inner or the Internal – Gong – means an organised system of practice, an art, or a method of self cultivation. Nei Gong can be translated to mean – the Art or Way of Inner Development. Here we understand the use of the term ‘Inner’ refers to the Inner Body of Energetic Centers, Meridian Channels, and the ‘Qi’ or Energetic Life Force itself. In this video we explore the Foundation Exercise – Searching For the Moon in the Sea — this exercise helps to open up the spinal cord, and helps us to develop a conscious ability to expand and contract the spinal cord. A flexible and open spinal cord is essential in Qigong and Neigong Training – and also helps to lay a strong foundation for health and longevity of the physical body.
