Xing Yi Quan – Five Elements Isometric Conditioning

Isometric training is one of the most accessible forms of training and it can be a very beneficial method of conditioning. By creating a static position under tension, the muscles are able to adapt to become better at holding a specific body posture for extended periods of time. In Xing Yi Quan this applies to training the correct alignment for striking techniques, where the stabilizing muscles (in the wrist in particular) often get neglected during the larger movements of other training methods. By adding simple isometric conditioning exercises to an already established training regimen, the overall techniques of the Five Elements can be greatly improved.
