One of the oldest systems of Chinese Martial Arts, dating to the Huang Ti dynasty, this system was traditionally only used by the Emperor’s personal guards. BaJi Chuan is a powerful martial art, projecting energy forward like a cannon. The students of Li Shu-Wen, the most famous modern master of BaJi Chuan, served as bodyguards to Mao Tse-Tung, Chiang Kai-Shek and the last Emperor, Pu-Yee. Grandmaster Su Yu-Chang, one of the world formost authorities on this traditional style of BaJi Chuan Kung Fu, explains its basic theories, techniques and applications.
Su Yu-Chang is one of the main inheritors and creators of what is now known as Baji Tanglang and now spread and known throughout the Western World under many schools and teachers with the umbrella name of Wutang. For Sifu Su, his services were utilized in Taiwan on the opposite side of Mao.
Su Yu-Chang and other disciples of Master Liu taught the secret service and Presidential bodyguard in Taiwan when formerly the country was under military rule by the Kuomintang. Martial Law in Taiwan was lifted in 1987.
Li Shu Wen.
He born in 1864 and dies in 1934. Grand Master of high temperament of the styles Baji Quan and Pigua Zhang. He had three disciples: Huo Dieng GE (Bodyguard of Pu Yi, the last Emperor), Li Chen Wu (Bodyguard of President Mao Zedong) and Liu Yun Qiao (Head of Escorts of President Chiang Kai Shek). Their numerous combats are famous until death, where he demonstrated to the effectiveness and the power of his system of boxing. He was known by the nickname of “Magical Lance Lí”.
Liu Yun Qiao.
He was born in 1909 and died in 1992. He received a hard training in Chinese Martial Arts from the childhood. He founded on Taiwan at the beginning of ´70 the Wutan School. He exerted of bodyguard and secret agent. Between their great masters is Li Shu Wen, of which he was disciple behind closed doors. He studied systems of the internal and external line like Tang Lang, Baji Quan, Pigua Zhang, Taijiquan, Bagua Zhang,… Between their main disciples are Adam Hsu and Su Yu Chang. It emphasizes its nickname: “Small Rebellious King”.
