Bagua Dragon Spear (baguazhang Longqiang)

baguazhang dao

This video we bring you about baguazhang dao to you so you can watch and also have access to related topics and items, all in one place. You can learn and keep learning without distraction.

Born from the Wang Wenkui branch of Cheng Bagua, the Dragon Spear is one of my favorite big weapons to practice and teach. The form is uncharacteristically short for a Bagua weapons set, taking only about 90 seconds when done at speed. There is very little repetition and each movement feels as though it builds on the momentum and techniques of the prior. It is an absolute joy.

I learned this set in the summer of 2018 from my Shifu’s Ni Rouhua and Guan Xin.
Ni Shifu is a 6th Generation Cheng who studied under Liu Chuang, son of Liu Xinghan.
Guan Shifu is a 6th Generation Cheng who studied under Wang Zhengtin student of Wang Wenkui.

This video was made for my students to study from, as such the speed is slow and I was trying to make each shape as clear as I could. I hope you all enjoy it!
