Rachael Fellers suffered from a debilitating form of pelvic pain that at times prevented her from standing or walking. She had seen several doctors over the years who had unsuccessfully tried to alleviate her pain through medication and surgery. Desperate and unable to leave the house or enjoy her life as a mom and a wife, she began researching alternative methods to manage her condition. Her research led her to Loyola University Health System’s acupuncture clinic. Loyola urologist and medical acupuncture doctor Larissa Bresler, MD, worked with Loyola to open the acupuncture clinic for men and women with pelvic health disorders in the fall of 2014. The clinic uses acupuncture to treat patients with common conditions such as pelvic pain, nausea from pelvic surgery, interstitial cystitis, painful bladder syndrome, post-surgical pain, prostatitis and overactive bladder. Acupuncture has been life-changing for Fellers. She reports that it saved her marriage and allowed her to enjoy being a mom. Loyola’s acupuncture clinic is offered every Wednesday at the Loyola Outpatient Center in Maywood. For more information or to make an appointment, please visit or call 888-584-7888.
