This Xing Yi Quan 形意拳 form’s name is directly translated to “Eight Forms” (八式). It is one of the most commonly practiced Xing Yi forms among practitioners in China.
Eight Forms includes all of the material from the 5 Elements fists and more. There are subsets of the 12 Animal forms added to it. One unique feature of the Eight Forms is that many of the Canon Fists in the form have same side hand/leg postures, where as in the 5 Elements, Canon Fist is practiced with opposite side hand/leg postures.
