This one is a quite a few years old now. Me and Mark out in the woods doing a little bit of 5 elements destructive partner sequence with jian. I was meant to upload a more recent version of some 5 elements jian but I haven’t had time so dragged this out of the archive.
Things have improved a little more since then but you can see some of the principles at play. Move the target away from the direction of the cut, try to keep tip of sword on the opponent as much as possible.
Things I think we’ve improved upon since then – more flow in movement and we’ve worked on more movement from body. Better positioning, moving away from the opponent’s blade/tip when possible.
I offer training in Xing Yi Quan and other Chinese martial arts in Yorkshire UK or private lessons by arrangement further afield. If you’re interested in learning Xing Yi Quan, Chinese swordfighting and Chinese Weapon arts visit www.xingyiacademy.com.
